Probe selection guide for PosiTector 6000 thickness gauge

The PosiTector 6000 thickness gauge consists of a measurement box to which a probe will be connected.

There are different types of interchangeable probes:

• PosiTector 6000 probes: probes for measuring the thickness of coatings on metal supports.
• PosiTector 200 probes: coating thickness measurement probes on non-metallic supports.
• PosiTector UTG probes: material thickness measurement probes (wall thickness)
• PosiTector SPG probes: profile depth measurement probes
• PosiTector RTR probes: Press O film tape reading probes (testex tape)
• PosiTector DPM probes: Temperature - Hygrometry - Dew Point measurement probes
• PosiTector IRT probes: infrared temperature measurement probes

Coating thickness measurement probes on metal supports are available in

• Remote probe (reference ending in S): The probe is connected to the PosiTector measurement box by a cable
• Compact probe: The probe is directly connected to the device

The probes exist for

• Measurement on ferrous support only (reference with an F)

These probes use magnetic induction technology and allow the measurement of non-magnetic coatings on a ferrous support (tinplate, steel, cast iron, etc.)

• Measurement on non-ferrous support only (reference with an N)

These probes use eddy current technology and allow the measurement of non-conductive coatings on non-ferrous metal supports (aluminum, copper, titanium, etc.)

• Measurement on all metals (reference with FN)

These probes combine the two technologies of magnetic induction and eddy current.

An FN probe will be a compact all-metal probe, an FNS probe will be a remote all-metal probe

Extreme FXS Probe

Designed for extreme hot applications. The FXS Xtreme ™ probe features an improved zirconia reinforced alumina wear face and a new braided steel cable, making it ideal for harsh conditions and continuous measurement on hot surfaces up to 250 ° C ( 500 ° F).

Standard dimensions 90 ° angled probes

Right angle probe for measuring in areas of low headroom. These constant pressure stainless steel probes are hermetically sealed to be completely waterproof - ideal for use underwater.

FNDS Duplex probe

The PosiTector 6000 FNDS probe measures individual thicknesses of paint and zinc coats in a duplex coating system with a single reading. Duplex coating systems use a combination of two corrosion protection systems - typically a paint or powder coating on galvanized steel (hot metallized, electro or zinc). The resulting corrosion protection is superior to either system of protection used independently. In duplex mode, the PosiTector 6000 FNDS simultaneously uses the magnetic (ferrous) and eddy-current (non-ferrous) principles to calculate and display individual paint and zinc coating thicknesses. The magnetic principle is used to measure the combined paint / zinc thickness on the ferrous substrate, and the eddy current principle is used to measure the paint thickness on the non-ferrous zinc coating. Zinc thickness is calculated by subtracting paint thickness from the combined paint / zinc thickness measurement.

Micro straight probes F0S or N0S:

With our smallest measuring tip and best thin film accuracy, this instrument is ideal for measuring on small parts, hard-to-reach areas or near edges. The straight F0S and N0S microprobes have a quick release adapter which makes them constant pressure probes for alignment on small flat or curved parts. This adapter is held in place by a spring. If the sleeve is not needed, simply remove it from the probe.
