UV aging chamber: QUV Solar Eye model

QUV Solar Eye

Each year, the sun, temperature and humidity are responsible for millions of euros of damage.

QUV aging chambers allow samples to be exposed alternately to cycles of UV light and condensation, at controlled temperature.

In a few days or a few weeks, you get the results of a natural aging of several months or years. Will your products withstand natural outdoor conditions? Do not make assumptions, but rather simulation tests!

The QUV Solar Eye model is the first model in the QUV range of enclosures equipped with Solar Eye technology and allowing the regulation of the light power of the lamps (irradiance).

Description

UV aging chamber: QUV Solar Eye model

QUV SOLAR EYE

Main Features :

The QUV model UV aging enclosures are the most widely used enclosures in the world for testing the UV resistance of products.

The QUV Solar Eye model allows you to perform cycles:

  • Condensation at regulated temperature.
  • UV exposure (UVA or UVB) at regulated irradiance (light power) and temperature.

They have the AUTOCAL function allowing a periodic calibration connected to ISO 17025 which can be carried out by the operator himself.

Why a QUV speaker?

Realistic

Our QUV enclosure, equipped with UVA-340 + lamps, offers the most realistic simulation of the UV part of the natural solar spectrum. These short wavelengths are very energetic and are responsible for most of the damage to durable materials like paints or plastics. Thanks to the QUV speaker, you will be able to reproduce this damage in order to understand and correct it.

Competitive

We are constantly focused on developing and designing machines that are competitive for our customers.

Over the years, we have refined our design and selected efficient and reliable components while controlling costs.

They have a large exposure surface (approximately 4000 cm² allowing to position 48 samples of 75x150 mm)

Easy to use

The QUV speaker was designed to be easy to use on a daily basis. It is quick to install in your lab, easy to start, and low on maintenance costs.

  • Multilingual intuitive touch interface including French
  • Test conditions continuously displayed for immediate viewing
  • Machine self-diagnosis and alarm management
  • Quick calibration with the patented AUTOCAL ™ system
  • Multi-color LED indicator for machine status information

Reliability and technical support

Our QUV loudspeaker is recognized for its reliability. We have deployed a structured global network to offer you the best technical support, and also provide all our customers with a REPAIRPEDIA ™ online diagnostic tool to help you optimize the performance of your speaker.

The global benchmark for light aging

With thousands of machines in operation around the world, our QUV is the most widely used aging chamber in all industrial sectors.

Q-Lab / LABOMAT expertise

For decades, we've been dedicated to providing you with the best accelerated aging speakers and the best service.

Our engineers actively participate in numerous ISO, ASTM, IEC, GB committees, and take part in numerous professional organizations for the creation and continuous improvement of standards, test methods and procedures.

Maintenance and calibration

The controller of our QUV is equipped with a self-diagnostic function which continuously records all machine parameters.

The system displays status, error, or maintenance messages, depending on the data being analyzed. Typical maintenance on a QUV enclosure consists of the periodic replacement of lamps and the calibration of the irradiance sensors.

QUV SOLAR EYE irradiance sensors must be calibrated periodically to ensure repeatability and traceability of results. This operation is quick and simple thanks to the universal calibrator system and AUTOCAL.

Within minutes, the enclosure sensors are calibrated and connected to international standards via the certified standard sensor (which must be replaced once a year)

QUV Solar Eye

The best-selling QUV model is equipped with the SOLAR EYE irradiance control system for controlling and maintaining UV intensity during the test.

The enclosure may alternate cycles of UV exposure and cycles of condensation.

It is a machine capable of providing rapid, reproducible results while guaranteeing a long service life of the lamps.

Presentation QUV

Solar Eye irradiance regulation

The variations in spectral intensity have an impact on the degradation kinetics of the material. As for the changes in the shape of the spectrum, they will have an impact both on the kinetics and on the type of degradation.

This is why it is essential that a light aging chamber be very reproducible on these two parameters.

All QUV models (except the basic) are fitted with the SOLAR EYE irradiance control system.

This is a control loop which precisely measures and adjusts the spectral intensity delivered during the test, by modulating the electric power delivered to the lamps.

The irradiance sensors are calibrated and linked to international standards.

This system offers both high repeatability and reproducibility, long lamp life and metrological traceability.

The Solar Eye system

  • Measures and regulates the programmed intensity
  • Ensures long lamp life
  • Amplifies kinetics at high irradiance
  • Allows working at an irradiance greater than the natural maximum irradiance
  • Offers metrological traceability

UV & Solar Spectrum Simulation

UV wavelengths are responsible for much of the photodegradation of durable materials intended for outdoor use.

The lamps of our QUVs simulate this aggressive part of the solar spectrum, and cause physical degradation in the heart of matter. We offer different types of UV lamps depending on the end application of your products

We have taken care to select very high performance UV lamps. We guarantee a stable spectrum throughout the life of the lamps. We drastically control each batch of lamps produced and thus ensure repeatability of your tests, year after year.

UVA lamps

Spectre lampes UVA

UVA-340 lamps provide perfect simulation of the solar spectrum, in the UV region, from extinction at 295nm to 365nm.

Our UVA-340+ “plus” lamps allow high irradiance tests to be carried out - up to 1.70 W / m2 / nm - and thus meet all standards and test methods.

UVA-351 lamps simulate UV filtered through window glass for interior applications.

Our Cool White lamps simulate artificial office lighting.

UVB lamps

SPECTRE LAMPES UVB

Our UVB-313-EL (legacy of QFS-40) lamps produce a harsh spectrum made up of wavelengths shorter than the natural extinction on the Earth's surface.

These lamps are rather used in quality control or for applications on materials with very great durability.

UVB-313-EL + “plus” lamps are also available for working at high irradiance.

A detailed analysis of the results must be carried out in order to avoid arbitrating on degradations which may sometimes not be realistic.

Condensation

condensation

Studies have shown that a material exposed outdoors is subjected to surface moisture for approximately 12 hours a day. The main cause is natural condensation: dew.

Our QUV enclosures are all equipped with a condensation system that allows water to evaporate and maintain humidity saturation.

The water then recondenses on the surface of the samples and reproduces the natural phenomenon.

Our QUVs are designed so that the samples form the wall of the enclosure.

By construction, there is therefore a temperature difference between the rear face of the sample, which is at room temperature, and the exposed face which is at high temperature and saturated with humidity.

This difference is sufficient to create the dew point and thus condense water which has been distilled by evaporation.
