Goniophotometer Rhopoint IQ 20°/60°/85° for measuring :
The Rhopoint IQ quantifies surface quality issues that are invisible to a standard glossmeter and describes how light is reflected from a surface.
It simultaneously measures the following parameters:
Haze: Reflection haze is scattered light caused by a micro-texture and is measured next to the main shine component. Symptoms - A milky finish is visible on high gloss coatings, halos may be visible around reflections from bright light sources. Causes (coatings) - Dispersion problems, incompatibilities of raw materials, improper drying or steaming. Causes (other) - Cleanliness, aging, oxidation, scratching, polishing.
RIQ: RIQ is used to quantify effects such as orange peel and surface ripple. This new setting gives higher resolution results compared to Image Distinction Measurement (DOI) and better mimics human perception of surface texture, especially on high quality finishes such as automobile. Symptoms of a bad RIQ: orange peel, brush marks, ripple, or other structures visible on the surface. Reflected images are distorted. Causes - Application problems, incorrect coating flow, coating viscosity too high/low, coating sag or flow before curing, incorrect particle size/distribution, excessive spraying, incorrect evaporation/recoat time, intercoat compatibility, incorrect curing time and curing temperature.
DOI: A measure of the clarity with which a reflected image will appear on a reflective surface.
RSPEC: The maximum brightness value at a very narrow angle.
