Coatmaster Flex Coating Thickness Gauge

The Coatmaster Flex thickness gauge is the ideal solution for non-contact thickness measurement of coatings

Thanks to its patented thermal analysis technique (Advanced Thermal Optic), it can measure:

• Powder paint thicknesses before baking: Range 0-400 microns
• Liquid paint wet film thicknesses: Range 0-400 microns
• Powder paint thicknesses after baking: Range 0-1000 microns
• Liquid paint thicknesses after drying or baking: Range 0-1000 microns

The measuring principle is simple:

The device sends a light flash on the surface (compatible with the fire detection systems of paint booths), this causes a slight rise in surface temperature for a fraction of a second. The device then analyzes the time it takes for the surface to return to the initial temperature and, thanks to the algorithms developed by Winterthur, will calculate the thickness of the coating (the thicker the coating, the longer the return to temperature time will be)

Unlike equipment operating by ultrasound which requires to be at a defined distance from the surface and perpendicular to the surface, the Coatmaster Flex allows measurements:

• At a distance of 2-15 cm from the sample
• At an angle between 20 and 160 ° to the surface

This makes the measurement both fast (about 20 ms) and easy for the operator.
